I could not find a real difference between the Dyson V11 Absolute and Dysons V11 Absolute Extra models. My guess is that the 2020 version of the Dyson V11 Absolute has been given the name suffix "Extra" and thus simply represents the current variant of the cordless vacuum cleaner.

Summary comparison of Dyson cordless vacuum cleaners

The Dyson V11 handheld vacuum cleaners are relatively identical in construction with an LCD display, a motor with cyclone technology and a colorful aluminum suction tube. It but differ in their subtleties. All V11 cordless vacuums have different attachments and brushes for different types of upholstery and floors, as well as a HEPA filter that is suitable for allergy sufferers and filters out about 99.97 percent of dust particles and pollen. You have to press the power button permanently when cleaning, since only the Dyson V12 has a lock function so far.

The Dyson V11 Absolute Extra is the improved successor of the Dyson V11 Absolute. Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Pro is one step further. The difference lies first in the suction power. While the 2019 version of the V11 Absolute sucks with a maximum of 185 AW, the successor models V11 Absolute Extra and V11 Absolute Extra Pro manage a maximum suction power of up to 220 AW. Already the V11 Absolute is relatively quiet when vacuuming. The V11 Absolute Extra is comparably pleasant on the go in terms of volume, while the V11 Absolute Extra Pro is pleasant on a low suction setting, but can get very noisy on a high suction setting when used on carpets. An advantage of the newer Extra and Extra Pro versions is also that the battery is no longer screwed down tightly like in the Absolute (2019), but can be easily changed via the click-in battery feature.

The V11 Absolute Extra Pro is particularly powerful in terms of suction and endurance. It has a second exchangeable battery included in the accessories, which doubles the possible working time. The replacement is quick and easy. Thus, you can increase the runtime to ten minutes in Boost mode, 80 minutes in Auto mode and 120 minutes in Eco mode. According to customer reviews, you can even get up to 70 minutes in Eco mode (140 minutes with second battery), 45 minutes in Auto mode (90 minutes) and ten minutes in Boost mode (20 minutes) with the Torque Drive floor nozzle. The V11 Absolute Extra Pro also has an extra charger included for the removable battery. This allows you to charge both batteries at the same time.

The Dyson V11 floor dock is only included with the V11 Absolute Extra Pro. Freestanding charging and storage stand lets you keep the cordless vacuum upright. This stand can be placed anywhere. In contrast, the classic wall mount of the other two handheld vacuums is permanently installed in one place.

All Dyson V11 models clean on hard floors and carpets with good results. In particular, the Torque Drive nickel brush for pile height adjustment makes cleaning on short and long carpets even easier, as the cordless vacuum can really go deep. Overall, the V11 Absolute Extra Pro is suitable for a lot of users with large areas, but this is also reflected in the price. The V11 Absolute also performs well at a lower price, although the V11 Absolute Extra with its higher suction power is more recommended and is our price-performance tip.
